SAINT-JULIEN
BOOK YOUR TOURHarmony and balance characterize the Cabernet Sauvignon driven wines produced under the appellation of Saint-Julien, also called Saint-Julien de Beychevelle due to its nearness to the Versailles of the Medoc, the Château de Beychevelle. Heading north by the Route des Chateaux, driving through some of the vineyards of other appellations such as Haut-Medoc, Listrac, Moulis, you will reach the gravelly hills of Saint-Julien. This is the smallest appellation among the four oldest Medoc appellations: Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac and Saint-Estephe.
The splendour of the historical estates such as Leovilles, Gruaud Larose, or Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, which overlook the Gironde, is equalled by the intensity of its wines. Here begin the main marks of the ancient river wine traffic. Saint-Julien also produce some great wines at very interesting prices, which sometimes can rival with some of Grand Crus: Chateau Gloria, Chateau Moulin Riche, Chateau du Glana, Chateau La Bridane.
The two restaurants of the town of Saint-Julien, Le Saint-Julien and Chez Mémé, will definitely delight your palates with some great local dishes!
